Charities Supported
Canodia (Foundation to support Cambodian children)
Canodia is one of my favorite charities. I met Jerry, the guy who started Canodia, in Ankor Wat, Cambodia in 2006 on a trip there. We were teaching kids English in this fantastic after school class room that a group of monks had built and ran. Actually, I had just stopped by to visit the school on a whim, and ten minutes after arriving found myself teaching English to a group of young children. The monks and the children were captivating and all so eager to learn. From there Jerry suggested visiting and volunteering at the Cambodia Children's home (CCH) in Phnom Pehn.
The children at CCH were all so amazing and full of hope. Below is a link to a fictional short story that one of the children sent to me when she was 12. Although fiction, the story has many notes of truth and sounds similar to many of the children's actual life stories.
Soon after meeting Jerry he started Canodia- a foundation for Canadians and all people to help the children of Cambodia- I am very grateful for all of Jerry's efforts and what he has created and done for these children over the last several years.
